Dad and I saw Sara today and she will give us a picnic table and grill for Skylight. Plus a lot of beach stuff: chairs, umbrellas, inner tube, etc. she is very nice. She is so much like her mom, it is strange. But her eyes are bigger.which is nice! Snowed a little tonight. We went to clean the office.
love you
Mom and dad
Ps are working on wills. Is there anything either of you specifically want mentioned?
Who wants the silver, the dishes, the ring, the gold locket or bracelet? The tiffany-style lamp, the grandfather clock, the oriental rugs? What do you specifically not want?

twenty years before she died my mother began putting labels under things to say who they were for. The then lost the labels over time or changed her mind according to who was ‘flavour of the month ‘ and who was not. I can wait to do it myself.

When my mother died, her will indicated that various parts of the same items would be split amongst us– such as a lamp to one person, the shade to another; a car with the engine technically owned by her husband, and the rest of the auto given to the kids, etc.

My mom died last July. Earlier last year she was asking us the same thing; what do we want so she can put it in the will. Not thinking she would die and not wanting to seem either greedy or that we don’t like her stuff, we never got back to her. She wasn’t sick; it was sudden; we thought we’d have time. Step dad gets everything, gets to decide who gets what now. He gave her ring to the new woman he is going to marry. Should have listened to mom!!!
I love this site, btw. So many moms say exactly the same kind of thing my mom would say.

What a classic, my Mom pulls the same stunt, however, I have learned to focus in on the stuff I DON’T want, I find that approach more amusing, entertaining and is quite the button pushing tatic (gotta push back some times!) She’ll want to know why I don’t want it, what I don’t like about it and then try to sell me on how useful or beautiful it is OR be insulted…I should get her going one day in an e-mail and submit it!

my mom insists on going over this stuff whenever she takes a trip anywhere. she said, “you never know if my plane is gonna crash in to the ocean and i’ll be the only survivor just to be eaten by a shark!”

My mom sat my sister and I down about four years ago so we could pick out rings of hers we each wanted. It blossomed from there into everything I wanted and my sister wanted. I claimed two rings and the house. Sister gets the rest. It’s good to be the oldest.

My mom took me with her to have her diamond rings reset to make sure I liked what she was changing them to “since they will be mine someday, I better like them”.
