DUI by proxy

Backstory: “I received this from my mom after my brother got a DUI. Both of us are over 25, but I suppose I’m in trouble, too?!”

I shouldn’t have to find out that my son got a DUI from the local newspaper. Please come over soon so that we can discuss.

What I’ve come to learn as the older brother….it is always to some degree your fault too….. Don’t argue it, or you’ll just be in more trouble.

Love it! I had the same thing happen to me when I was in college. It’s great to be stuck in the middle!

You should have seen what happened when my mother found out that everyone in my family (including my father) knew about my brother’s new (and first) tattoo and she didn’t…

I’m guessing (perhaps wrongly) that she thought you knew before the paper did and should have told her.

That’s a heck of a catch-22: tell Mom, who needs to know in order to be a better parent even if it’s to an adult child or because she is going to be held responsible by her community for having a drunk-ass son who is also stupid enough to drive while drunk; OR keep the secret for your drunk-ass brother who is stupid enough to drive while drunk but who, let’s face it, has probably kept a secret or two from her for you.
