Backstory: I have my prescription for medical marijuana. I told the doctors assistant not to send the ID card to the address on my license. Unfortunately she didn’t listen and sent the ID card to my mothers house.
I have a medical marijuana card for you. Hmmmmm. Don’t you think it’s time to quit? Pot & cigarettes! At least quit the cigarettes!!! love, mom

frustrating!! if it’s a Rx she needs to mind her own business. throw a copy of HIPAA at her. :)

I think if you require a script for medical pot that smoking cigarettes is the least of your worries!

Hi there, like the first comment mentioned you shouldn’t be subjected to those kinds of breaches with your health care provider! I encourage you to call your physician and let them know. Specific instructions given to a doctor’s staff need to be handled properly. This may be a one time mistake, or a symptom of a flawed system.
Check out my site. I created it to help medical cannabis patients in the event of a law enforcement encounter. A sticker with your unique ID number is affixed to your physician’s recommendation letter. In California the law specifically states that a letter is considered equal to the state issued card.
Please take a look at the site. You can reach me by email at the bottom of any page.
Thanks for posting!

Technically, I thought it was illegal to open mail addressed to someone else. As long as it’s not marked on the outside of the envelope, maybe not the fault of the doctor’s office that mom opened mail not intended for her. But it is annoying that they sent it to the wrong address…
It took me years to train my mom not to open my mail. best of luck with that.

It took me years to teach my mom not to snoop. We’re talking mail, email, drawers, “diaries.”
She still does. It’s ok.
She sort of got what was coming to her when One of my art/literature projects surfaced back in college (she was helping me move in, i ran out to get us refreshments and i came back to her reading the “diary”). It was modeled after Letters to Wendy’s (male has obsession w/ Wendy from Wendy’s and breaches on sexual obsession). Mine was more of a heightened obsession with cars that also bordered on sexual tendencies. Mom thought it was real. Imagine having to calm her down with that one.
