Rome wasn’t built in a day

Loved it!  Why aren’t you a writer or working in that field?  I am about to say something horribly insensitive….Rome wasn’t built in a day. Visit the world through photos until you can get there. Plan on a trip every couple of years like most people. Are you planning on a short life? If not, you have plenty of time to do everything, even grow basil, plus many things you haven’t even thought of yet. Relax and enjoy the moment you are in. Life is not a race, it’s more like a lovely stroll where you encounter pot holes now and then. Expect to trip once in a while.  You are just in a slump…go buy some cute shoes.

This is awesome advice! Can I adopt your mom? Unfortunately my own biological mother could never offer me this kind of advice or warmth, but this is fabulous! Be grateful and thankful that she loves you enough not to berate you and that she offers you a way to grow…and to buy cute shoes..LOVE IT!

What kind of “trip” did she mean? Expect to fall in one of the pot holes or expect to travel every now and then? Maybe she meant both! This is a great letter and she must be a great mom!

Beautiful in it’s wisdom and perspective. Oh where would we young ‘ens be without mothers….probably pregnant and in a ditch :)

      Is growing basil extremely time-consuming?

If you really work hard, you could even grow basil! I love it!

I loved this one, it really is the perfect life advice and makes me realize I’m in a slump and need cute shoes :)

P.S. the secret to growing Basil is sunshine and lots of water (like daily drownings) and the result is amazing.

This sounds like one of my mom’s pep talks. I think I’d be living out of dumpsters if it weren’t for my mom’s similar talks.
My mom encourages cute shoes, an eyebrow waxing and a trip to the bar for one drink alone as a remedy for the doldrums. It’s worked for me so far.

PS thanks for the advice on the basil… mine fails every time and I just realized I’m probably not watering them enough!

I have sent this to at least 5 people who are in pot holes today! And a couple who aren’t who I know cannot live without their mothers. Best.

      GO MOMS!

I sure wish *my* Mom would warn me before telling me something “horribly insensitive”! And I wish it was something as uplifting as this one!

But hey, she must have done a good job anyway, I’m not pregnant in a ditch!

This is actually great encouragement and advice…very “motherly”. Didn’t think it was insensitive at all…

I particularly liked: “Are you planning on a short life?” and “go buy some cute shoes.”

I love this one! Totally something my own mom would say when I complained about hating my job or something.
She always says, “everyone says life is short – it is and it’s not. there’s time later on to get what you want” when i’m being all young and impatient.

Right now it sounds like Movable Type is the top blogging platform available
right now. (from what I’ve read) Is that what you’re using on your blog?

Everything is very open with a precise description of the issues.
It was really informative. Your website is extremely
      helpful. Thank you for sharing!
