Bad Mommy! Bad Mommy!
Of course, I have lost your address yet again – PLEASE email it me today because I will look like an even worse mother if I don’t mail your birthday card (etc) tomorrow.
Feel free to post this to PCFYM…I deserve it
Your Loving Mother

It’s official. This site is now dead. I told you it would be over once the mothers of America found out.
Seriously, it won’t be the same. Either the Mother will try to get a not on, like above, or at least being conscious of this site, will pre-edit their correspondence.
I am sad.

Gee, I guess we will all miss your witty posts then huh?

How awesome that PCFYM was a mention!

Did you think it was just kids who read this stuff??? I am a grandmother and hit the site every day.
September 4, 2008 at 3:54 am
I don’t think it’s just kids who read this stuff, but I think posts from mothers who know their kid(s) post on this site should be banned as it ruins the magic. It’s in the posts from the unaware mothers that make the site what it is.

I think there’s no reason to take it too seriously. My Mom’s emails are funny when she’s being funny on purpose and are sometimes funny when she’s not trying to be. I’m not sure how knowing she’s funny detracts from her funniness. I think the same goes for postings on this website.

Ruth, I agree. Funny is funny.

Well, I have to say, ever since I started sending my mom posts from the site that remind me of her, I’ve noticed that her texts to me have become a little more… edited… and to the point. I think she is deliberately trying to NOT give me any material to send in. Sad, but I think it’s better than if she were actively trying to get herself on here? But I definitely agree with Kelly- I think people, (especially moms, haha) are funnier when they don’t know they are being watched.

As the daughter of a Bill Clinton lover (yes, THAT one), my mom knows I am deliberately scanning her texts and e-mails for material for this site!

LCM didn’t know you were such a fan. Makes me blush. :-)
Seriously though, I love this site, i am just worried about the “Observer effect”.

LCM – One can only hope!

Sorry, Djinn, didn’t mean to ruin the magic! I introduced my mom to the site and we laugh about it together. At first she denied that any of her correspondence was PCFYM-worthy. She soon had to admit that wasn’t the case, and then she started ending every one of her emails with, “And don’t you dare send this to PCFYM!” Since this was the first one where she didn’t say that — indeed, she all but encouraged me to submit it! — I just had to send it in!

So if I show my Mom this site she’ll stop sending me stupid emails?! I’m going to show it to her TODAY!

This totally could have been from my mother. I have lived in the same place for 5 years! she can’t ever find my phone number to call me back.

I am the Bad Mommy of the post – seriously, guys, can’t you let the somewhat cooler Moms (like me, obviously) join in? We all need to laugh at ourselves, and I get a huge kick out of my apparently clueless -yet-still-trying-to-control generation.

I thought it was funny.

I love it. I think the best part of this site is sharing it with your momma. I love sharing the emails that remind me of our emails. I feel that that’s the whole point of this site.

I agree with Jen – I love to tell my mother about the things I read here, because they remind me of her! It’s great because she laughs at them and says things like “even I understand how to blah blah”, then five minutes later she is asking me if the reason the desktop computer crashed is because I just turned my laptop on. And judging by the amount of things submitted where the mom says something hilarious and follows up with “and don’t you dare send this in to that website!”, I’d say moms knowing about PCFYM doesn’t necessarily lead to self-censorship.
And let’s keep in mind that there are people whose emails to their kids end up on here, but who also submit emails from their own mothers.
