We had a lot of wine. I think it was fine.

Backstory: Mom decided it was time to tell Aunt Annie I was gay, and in a relationship. Alcoholism ensued.

Me: So how was your vacation?

Mom: It was great! We took a tour of Pike Place Market (fun!) and the botanical gardens or something (snooze) and something else that I don’t remember. I told Aunt Annie about “Lance”. Your father and Uncle Gary didn’t like the hotel, but we thought it was okay.

Me: And?

Mom: And what?

Me: And how did that chat go with Annie?

Mom: We had a lot of wine. I think it was fine.

Love the quotes around your boyfriend’s name. she told your aunt about your “boyfriend”, like he’s allegedly your bf.

My mother and I have this same sort of conversation every time she starts dating a new guy. I remember, after my parents divorce one of the things she was upset about is “how do I tell a guy I have a gay son?”.

      Cheers, and happy out-coming!

Haha, is “Lance” in the witness “protection” program?
