I think Lauren is probably referring to the fact that it was written about a girl the singer was obsessed with but had never even talked to. She was sufficiently creeped out and, lucky for her, got to listen to a freaky song about her play on the radio incessantly for months.
Or maybe she wasn’t. But hey, story behind.
