Thoughts on the New Tattoo

Hi Sweetie,

don’t think I’ve not been in touch cos you had a tattoo. I have in fact been off sick this week (full of a cold) and didn’t come in to work.

Naturally, I think it was a really bad idea but it’s your body after all. What was it? A bleeding heart, a dragon or the word ‘mother’ written across your chest? Never mind, it’ll serve you well if you ever want a job on a building site.

How are things with you?

I was 21 and 2 days away from walking across the stage for my university graduation when I got a tattoo (tasteful symbol of the university that is easily concealed on my ankle). I still had the cream and saran wrap on it when my mom came down to help me move and she just shook her head at me but after a few months, she’s gotten used to it so long as I hide it for church!

I have one on my forearm, it’s my sailor tattoo, my mom loves it….my dad, as of now, refuses to acknowledge it…it’ll grow on him:)

      Dear Mom,

I hope you don’t mind but I sent your postcard to that cool blog about passive-aggressive notes.

      Love,
      Sweetie

My parents have given up on me and my sister when it comes to piercings/tattoos haha. Theyve gotten better though! My dad even got one with my sister and me as a family tat and even though my mom didnt want to get one too, she wanted to be included so we picked a saying we all liked and got it done in her writing.

I assume Sweetie is a female child with Mother on her chest working topless on a building site.

It’s surprising how parents can slowly come around. My dad always wanted a tattoo but, of course, thought I was being irresponsible when I started getting tattoos. My mom’s always hated the idea. Fast forward to a couple years later…My dad and I got a matching tattoo and next time my mom comes to visit, she wants in on “the family tat” as does my husband.

I have 6 tattoos. Im glad my mother never gave me slack about them. Though the lip peircing and purple hair she had a slightly more difficult time with. :)

This past summer I took my 72 year old mom to get her third tattoo. It’s a huge dragon on her calf…she keeps telling my sister to go to her “guy” for her next tattoo.

Ahahaha, my father and grandfather both have at least three or more tattoos. I don’t really want any myself, but I always thought it was cool that my dad had some from when he was in his, ahhh, “youth group.” ;)
