At the London premiere of her new film Duplicity last night, Julia Roberts told a British newspaper that she asked that a nude scene in the movie be toned down. And now it seems like she doesn’t want to do nude scenes at all. As she told the paper:
When asked if she would consider doing a nude scene in a film, she said: ‘You know it’s not really what I do, so if you are going ask me to do it, you have to expect it to be toned down. You know, as a mum of three, I feel like that.’
What do you think of moms doing nude scenes in movies?
For women who work in the movie industry I guess they would really have to consider the impact on their children. Would seeing mom totally naked on the big screen have a bad effect on the kids? Or, would you make sure they did not ever see the movie until they grew up? That could be a tough decision, but I totally agree with Julia Roberts position.

Better question: Should Julia Roberts be allowed to use the word “mum?”

@mamacita, I just assumed they changed it to “mum” because it was a British paper. But yeah, if not, that is an excellent question!

What’s the difference between an actress doing a nude scene before or after she has children. Either way that [future] child could see it. I don’t think it’s the nudity that actresses need to be aware of, I think it’s the context and whether it’s done tastefully.

Even if the children were not permitted to see it until they were older, perhaps their peers will before them… which would make for an interesting conversation, and many questions to ask their mum…

Reasonable question: what will the children have worse considering; their mother’s nudity in a film or a her work in “Closer” where she is having an affair while discussing sex graphically and swearing repeatedly.

Julia Roberts has been in a few risque movies, like Closer, that I doubt she’ll be letting her kids watch anytime soon. But, I can respect the fact that it probably feels different doing things for “arts sake” when you have children.

Since when is Julia Roberts a “mum”?

Julia Roberts had a body double in pretty woman just to show her legs. I would be highly surprised if she would even consider doing a nude scene….

Why is mom-nudity such a big deal? Nobody’s asking if men and women with families should do violent scenes, or play the part of unpleasant people. Would you really want your children to see you playing a sentimental, fully 3-dimensional Adolf Hitler, like Bruno Ganz did in Der Untergang? Probably not – until they’re older. The issue here is not the children, or their needs, but our view of aging sexuality. I really think that we, as a cult-of-eternal-youth society, need to tone down our rejection of adult nudity and sexuality for anyone over the age of 35. Moms need lovin’ too.

I think moms should do nude scenes. Lots of people like to see older women in porn and personally i love milfs. I think a milf would be great to see more of in porn because there hotter then some younger girls and they deserve to be there to. Personally im in my mid 20′s and have fucked a milf before and they love sex and i love milfs with big tits expecially but they love it and so does everyone else.
