Pre-Need Planning?

Backstory: I asked Mum if she and Dad had any preferences for what will happen to their bodies/funerals when they die and told her my preferences.

I’m kinda hoping to outlive everyone, so it should be irrelevant! (he,he) Seriously though, do whatever you want with the bodies but no expensive funeral. After all, that’s only for show (to some extent) and the funeral director taking advantage of grief (to a large extent). So simple is fine.
Is there something I should be worried about…life insurance, funeral instructions?? Anything going on?

Agree with mom 100%. Simple is best, cremation is the cheapest. Thats the way to go. Why leave the family with a huge burial debt? Just burn it up and sprinkle my ashes on the 18th green at Augusta golf course. Amen.

Everyone, please please please make sure you sit down with your family and find out where all the important papers are, insurance, burial insurance, what they want done. EVERYTHING!!!! We just went through this with my mom. She always said, “You kids know what I want.” Yes we knew some of it, but the important papers we didn’t. You don’t have to see the will, but do sit down with them and go over every bit of insurance papers that they have. My mom thought that she had life insurance and what it was was one of those cheap policies that banks send out. We will give you $1000 free life insurance you can choose how much coverage you would like a month. Turned out to be an accidental death and dismemberment policy.
Tell them that if they loved you that they would have all of this in what Dave Ramsey calls his love drawer. They would have what they want done wrote down somewhere so you are having to make these decisions. Dave said to go over it once a year, because they may add a policy or change something else. Seriously save yourself the heartache in the end.
