I think her exact words were: "I have been thinking that bringing Grant [my dog] to live with you is probably a bad idea - with vet bills, and food, and all the other expenses - and I know money is tight for you right now. So . . . your father and I have decided to keep him here with us. I talked to Grant about it, and he told me he'd rather be here with us than partying it up with a bunch of drunk college students who are just going to barf on him." As it turns out, she was right.
