Hello, sweetie…just thought I’d drop you a line and let you and only you know how my phone drowned. But you can’t tell. I’ve been storing it in my bra as it is a safe and easy reach, and I was outside washing bird poop off my car right before going to the health club, so I stored it in my new “pocket” which happened to be in the bathing suit I had on.. I continued on my way. About 15 minutes into my water aerobics class,I realized, I didn’t leave my phone in the locker room..
What do you think…any chance it will work????
Jeez! It was such a good place too. i was so proud of my discovery! I ws just about to share it with everyone!
Love you!
Mom.

OMG. I just found this web site a few days ago and I swear we have the same mom. My mom’s latest: As we were eating outside at a restaurant she accidentally dropped a few crumbs of food. Birds swooped in. Her response: “It’s funny how bird’s love people droppings but people don’t like bird droppings.”

Bummer for mom’s phone, it’s probably ruined, but she could try putting it in a bag of rice to draw out the moisture. If anything, the dealer or a phone repair shop should be able to salvage the info stored on it. My friend washed his phone once and he dried it just enough to get the information out. Wish I could say the same about the MP3 player I washed last week…

I love how Mom thinks she’s the first one to ever “discover” the idea of storing things in her bra. :)

I love how Mom sent this to her kid and only her kid and it ends up on the internet.

Rumor has it if you don’t turn the phone on right away, but take the battery out of your phone, and separate out any removable parts and let it dry, it’ll be fine…Can’t say I know for sure, though. I’ve never drowned a phone, I usually just drop them so many times they’re completely beyond repair. ;)

you might be able to “bake” your phone on in the oven on a low temperature–200 degrees or so–and see if that dries it out before stuff corrodes.

T – I thought the same thing.
My mom takes water aerobics every week. I can soooo see her doing something like this.

My grandmother always kept her money in a “secret pocket”.

To address the “you and only you” comment, I got this email from my mom right when it happened, since then she’s shared it with others too – so it’s not as big of a deal to her anymore. It was just too great of a story to not share!
And… the phone was unsalvagable. But the car was clean.

I know this is an old post but I had a Motorola that I dropped outside and it sat in a puddle in the rain for about 6 hours.
I took it apart and let it sit, and I thought all hope was lost… but in three days you would never know it had happened!
