Backstory: My car battery died and I paid Roadside Assistance $60 for someone to come out and jump me. My mom thought this was completely ludicrous.
Mom: well, toss them to the curb and just look distressed and put up your hood and someone will help
Mom: use your feminine wiles!
Me: i don’t have feminine wiles.
Mom: oh yes you do…. two of them….
AAA get it, it is cheaper than that for an entire years coverage and it covers everybody who lives w/ you.

Save the sex appeal for your love interest! The road is not a safe place to need help from strangers anymore…. I would not want anyone I know to be stranded in this day and age, male or female! AAA is a great option and most cell phone companies have a roadside assistance program too. Be proactive and save the feminine wiles for romance! There, that’s my two cents worth…

Luckily, I was in my office parking lot, so it wouldn’t have been a complete stranger. My roommate had initially come and tried to jump me, but it didn’t work for some reason, so I called the Hyundai people. :)

Wow, I don’t think that standing by your car with the hood up even remotely implies “fix my car and I’ll have sex with you.” I hardly think the mother was implying that!! Just that people will stop to help a pretty girl in trouble!
And the last time I called AAA (alone, out on the highway, in the middle of winter) they said it would be a minimum of 72 hours before they got to me! When I protested, (I live in the north, and would likely freeze to death long before that) they said that if I couldn’t wait that long, I should call an ambulance!! I canceled my membership after that.

I’m sure many people would stop to help a pretty girl in trouble. And most of them would probably be genuine in wanting to help. Maybe even if you weren’t pretty. BUT there’s always the chance that the stranger has other motives. And that’s not a chance I’m willing to take. Roadside Assistance for me!

So funny because something like this happened to me too and my mom was upset that I paid for it when there are guys out there dumb enough to help someone because of cleavage and long legs. Weve come a long way, baby!
