Let me tell you about my tree.

Me: i know news travels slow, so wanted to let you know we had another earthquake
Me: everything’s fine
Mom: when?
Me: about 10 minutes ago
Mom: OMG. while you were still at work?! How did everyone react? Are you ok? Honey! Come home!
Me: mom, it’s fine
Me: ummm no one did anything
Me: it lasted like, 6 seconds
Mom: ok. did I tell you about my new tree?

Aw, they’re on the east coast and I’m on the west. I like to tell them about tramatic events (ie earthquakes) before they watch the 6:00 evening news so they don’t freak out about it. Fair enough?

I love this one, you didn’t need to explain because I have family on the east coast and any time there is flooding anywhere on the west coast I get a call asking if we are ok. I just think it is absolutly hilarious the way the mom goes from panic to have I told you about the tree…..

The reaction is exactly like my mom. I live in New Orleans and whenever hurricane season rolls around, she starts panicking and tells me to “JUST COME HOME FOR PETE’S SAKE!!! ARE THE PETS OK?/?? aRE YOU eVACUATIN??” Ah.

I live on the east coast and my parents don’t, although my mom is a weather channel junkie. I can’t tell you how many times a nor’easter has blown through and she calls telling me to “Go inland! Go inland!” Ahhh, momma.
