Pandemic Is Imminent!

Hi Kiddles,

The WHO has raised the threat level from Swine flu to 5, the second highest. They say a pandemic is imminent. You really do need to wash your hands after being in public, and especially if you’ve been around someone who is sneezing or coughing. If you feel sick at all, go to Health Services immediately. I hope this all blows over quickly, as with SARS, but we just don’t know.

Buy some canned food and water? I’m going to.

I just want you to stay healthy!

Love you,
Mom

Don’t forget the surgical masks and disinfectant. You can’t be too careful! :-)

Canned food? Water? Should we keep a supply of Zombie-Be-Gone just in case?? Poor mom – she’s really in a panic! I had it already – it wasn’t fun, but it was no worse than any other flu I’ve ever had. Headache, sore throat, fatigue, cough, body aches, nasty fever. Just stay away from people if you think you have it.

I wish people (moms especially) would calm down about H1N1. I live very near WSU, the University that had the severe outbreak. Quite a few people in our area got H1N1 and the world did not come to an end. When I got H1N1 I missed two days of work and two days of class. I felt miserable for a few days but it wasn’t anything that rest and lots of fluids couldn’t take care of.

If you’re elderly or have a compromised immune system, it’s worth worrying about. Otherwise, just wash your hands often, which you should be doing anyway.
