I've read lots of stuff on compatibility, because if I'm going to invest my time, let alone my heart, in a relationship, I want it to be with someone who is right for me. The best thing I've found on the subject of compatibility is a short e-book by Hayden Dane called I Have One Question (www.haydendane.com). Unlike most dating sites that suggest you'd be right for each other if you have activities in common, which is a little ridiculous I think, Dane makes a strong argument that admiration lies at the heart of long-term compatibility. Specifically, if you admire in the other what he/she admires in himself/herself, then long-term compatibility is likely. He explains it in the book and evens walks through a conversation to have to draw the necessary information from guys (or girls, if you're a guy) you are interested in. Give it a read. It's helped me a lot in clarifying what I want in that special someone and just as importantly, how to know if I've found it! My mom has said the same thing to me!
