My ex-husband went off to get drunk while I attended the funeral of a beloved uncle. My present long-term boyfriend, when each of my parents died, drove me all the way to another state and stayed right by my side the whole weekend of each memorial service. Plus, my cats like him, even though(or maybe because?) he's allergic to them. Autumn, I totally agree with your standard.
