Stay Out of the Hot Tub

Backstory: Mom was advising me not to go anywhere near my apartment complex’s hot-tub.  I had asked if she thought they spread diseases.

Probably not… but I wouldn’t take the chance in a “public” one!!  yuck!  Think about everyone’s “warm” body stuff flaking off into the water!! Ewwwwwwwww!!

Yes they do! I got a staff infection on my bikini line which resulted in HUGE BOILS THAT LEFT SCARS! from my neighbor’s brand new one. Google hot tub infections and you will never get in another one, eww.

Hot tubs and spas are completely and totally safe, as long as the water is maintained properly. An improperly maintained hot tub, on the other hand, can indeed lead to terrible infections (though I don’t believe it’s possible to contract chlamydia, or any other STD from a hot tub properly maintained or not).

Use your common sense. If the hot tub looks dirty, it probably is. :)

Even if they are “safe”, think “floating” scabs….

What a lot of people don’t know about Staph is that it is a common bacteria that lives on everybody’s skin. It’s very easy to get it into the microscopic tears left behind after hair removal, especially if you’ve been in hot water. The hot tub didn’t give you Staph, Alyx. Making yourself aesthetically pleasing did.
