My mother wouldn’t say something to this extent, but she would definitely be thinking it… unfortunately, I hate to admit it, but mothers and parents are right at least 99% of the time. If your mom thinks this way about a potential relationship, run.
Not necessarily…my mom was absolutely in love w/ the worst guy I dated. He was extremely sleazy but because he turned on the charm for her she didn’t know any better. I was too young at the time to see him for what he really was, and too dumb to listen to my older, wiser friends. When your mom has a horrible track record w/ men, you have to learn to weed out the losers for yourself. Unfortunately you can only learn this through experience.
I’ve been very fortunate and blessed with the fact that my parents have been together for almost 40 years. she always knew when the relationship was going sour regardless of how much she liked or disliked the guy. we’re Catholic and i never got the Catholic guilt, however, i love and hate how she’s right all the time. by the way, she fits in perfectly on this site though. :)
"My grandma is always talking about all of these low-fat recipes she makes, then criticizes me for not slathering butter all over the bread when I make grilled cheese."

My mom used to say, “Go ahead, drive a stake through the heart that loves you.” Nothing like good ole Catholic guilt to cement a relationship.
